An upscale apartment complex at W Hillsborough Avenue and Countryway Boulevard is going condo and clothing-optional. The Eden, on its Web site, says it will soon allow nudity in a "private European/South Beach style swimming pool and spa area." A spokesperson for the Hillsborough County Sherriff’s office says that despite some criticism of the idea, the complex isn’t breaking any laws. Quote, "It looks like they’re taking every necessary precaution. Unless they’re committing crimes out there, I don't see this as a law enforcement issue." (Full Story | Audio)

The cops are down playing this but will The Eden be able to keep this a non issue, with the way local politicians and religious activists are?
Yes.
No.

College presidents from about 100 of the nation's best-known universities are calling on lawmakers to consider lowering the drinking age from 21 to 18, saying current laws actually encourage dangerous binge drinking on campus. (One student says quote, "There isn't that much difference in maturity between 21 and 18," she said. "If the age is younger, you're getting exposed to it at a younger age, and you don't freak out when you get to campus.") Mothers Against Drunk Driving says lowering the drinking age would lead to more fatal car crashes and accuses the presidents of misrepresenting science and looking for an easy way out of an inconvenient problem. One expert says the college presidents see a problem of drinking on college campuses, and instead of dealing with it, its easier to ask for the laws be changed.” (Full Story | Audio)

Lowering the drinking age to 18…

The Citrus Park Little Leaguers have little time to sulk after losing their first game of the summer. If they do for too long, their season will be over, and school is just ahead. Now the scenario is simple for Citrus Park (1-1): defeat Shelton, Conn. (1-1) at 6 tonight, and the team from northwest Hillsborough County advances to Thursday's U.S. semifinal; lose and Citrus Park is eliminated. (Full Story | Audio)

Marriage gets little respect on network TV shows that instead revel in the pleasures of extramarital and even kinky sex, according to a study released Tuesday. The study by the Parents Television Council includes a strongly worded condemnation of prime-time TV, contending it “seems to be actively seeking to undermine marriage by consistently painting it in a negative light.” Supporters say it is legitimate to scrutinize TV’s take on marriage and sexuality given its influence on children. But TV Watch, a nonpartisan group that says individuals and not government should decide what’s seen, said quote, “The Parents Television Council won’t be satisfied with television content until they convince the government to enforce their personal, selective judgments.” (Full Story | Audio)

Do you think that Hollywood is “actively seeking to undermine marriage?”
Yes
No
Shut up! Hollywood is actively seeking to put money in their pockets! That’s it!

Barack Obama says dipping into the nation's strategic oil reserve could have a "short-term effect" on gas prices but offers "no suggestion it will make a long-term impact." Obama argued last month against tapping the petroleum reserve but is now making it part of a broader energy plan. Quote, “Breaking our oil addiction is one of the greatest challenges our generation will ever face,” Obama said in his prepared remarks Monday. “It will take nothing less than a complete transformation of our economy. This transformation will be costly, and given the fiscal disaster we will inherit from the last administration, it will likely require us to defer some other priorities.” McCain’s spokesman Tucker Bounds said in a statement, quote, "Tapping the strategic oil reserve is not a substitute for a real plan to increase supply through additional drilling and nuclear power. The strategic oil reserve exists for America's national security strategy -- not Barack Obama's election strategy." (Full Story | Audio)

Should we tap the strategic oil reserve?
Yes
No

What others are saying

  • Muslims vs Mcdonalds
I am all for equall rights, freedom or religion, and everything else we are supposed to stand for as Americans! But, to wear a hijab is going against the work uniform, make an exception for them and others will want exceptions too!! Honestly, they probably knew Mcdonalds wouldn't hire them..and puposely went in there with intent to sue!! They do not deserve special rights because of religion...Some catholics and Christians still work on Sunday which is their Holy Day, otherwise every one could make up reasons to have exceptions....I am fat I shouldn't have to wear my striped shirt at footlocker when I go in to work..., but I do!! Other religions conformed for modern America...bout time they do, or buy your own land, and go live like the Amish....they don't have to get hired anywhere...the live off the land!
