Tropical Storm Fay continued its erratic path this morning, reaching the coast and headed for the Atlantic Ocean where it could strengthen and curve back toward Florida— possibly as a hurricane. With current sustained winds of 50mph, forecasters expect the storm will get a dose of energy when it moves over the Atlantic, where it should linger until Thursday. (Full Story)


Barack Obama and his newly named running mate will campaign together Saturday at the place where the Democratic presidential hopeful formally launched his White House bid. The campaign has said it will announce the choice via cell phone text message to supporters. As of right now, Obama, his wife, Michelle, a handful of his most senior advisers and his two-member search committee know for certain who has made the cut. (Full Story)

An 85-year-old Pennsylvania woman boldly went for her gun and busted a would-be burglar inside her home, forcing him to call police while she kept him in her sights. After the 17-year-old boy called 911, Leda Smith kept holding the gun on him until state police arrived at her home. He will be charged with attempted burglary and related offenses in juvenile court. China has banned the use of its Olympic gold medalists' names as Internet addresses by anyone but the athletes themselves. The move announced Tuesday came after companies registered the names of winning Chinese athletes at the 2004 Athens Olympics as Web addresses, prompting an outcry by sports fans. People who registered names before the games can keep them but "were advised to give it to the medalist `as a gift'.’" The Chinese government controls Web addresses using the ".cn" suffix but has no power over those assigned in other countries. LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly on Tuesday. Moore was seriously injured in an ATV accident on June 30th and went back into the hospital last month due to complications. The band went on with its show Tuesday night in Los Angeles, where lead singer Dave Matthews dedicated the entire show to Moore. (Full Story)
